Preparing overnight oats or cold oatmeal at home is very simple. This time we share a matcha flavor bowl.
The benefit of this type of preparing your oatmeal in this way is that it allows you to save time at the beginning of the day since at night you will leave your oatmeal soaking in a container, and in the morning you will only have to add the fruits or complements that you like the most.
To prepare your overnight oats, you only need a sealable container: a jar or Tupper (the important thing is that it has a lid). You can use steel-cut oats "steel cut oats" or use oat flakes. This time I decided to use my steel-cut oatmeal.
It is important to mention that steel-cut oats are the least processed form of oats so they have a higher amount of fiber, however, the nutritional variations between the types of oats are not many.
OVERNIGHT OATS OR COLD OAT MATCHA FLAVOR
The preparation is very simple, you just have to add to the container all the ingredients marked in the recipe, mix and let it rest for a whole night or an equivalent of 12 hours.
On this occasion, I used a Parrot Greens & Protein matcha- flavored protein powder, which is the protein of my preference and the one we consume at home.
You can sweeten the recipe a little more with stevia or monk fruit if you eat a sugar-free diet, or use the sweetener of your choice.
Steel-cut oats, due to their composition, require more water than oat flakes, which is why I added an annotation in the recipe to make the adjustment if you decide to use oat flakes.
In general, if you want to use steel-cut oats, it is recommended that you soak them beforehand. It is not just delicious oatmeal, but it has a nutty flavor and a thicker consistency that keeps you satisfied for longer.
